Recently, they made multiple arrests and charged 19 people in connection with the Pearson gold heist case. They also stopped a shipment of many guns intended to come into Canada.

Some of those arrested were employees of Air Canada, the airline involved. The theft happened on April 17, 2023, when someone stole 6,600 gold bars worth about $20 million and foreign currency worth $2.5 million from an Air Canada storage place at Pearson International Airport. The thief used a document meant for a seafood shipment to get into the warehouse.

This was the biggest Pearson gold heist theft in Canada ever. Nine people have been arrested so far, and police are looking for three more suspects. During the theft, the thief arrived at the warehouse in a big truck and took the gold, which had been flown in from Zurich.

Investigators disclosed that the suspect responsible for the heist managed to steal 6,600 gold bars valued at approximately CAD 20 million and this substantial amount of gold, along with $2.5 million in various foreign currencies, had been transported to Toronto from Zurich aboard an Air Canada flight. Upon arrival at Pearson Airport, the valuable cargo was offloaded and stored in an Air Canada cargo facility.
