Vietnamese authorities reported that Typhoon Yagi killed at least four people and injured 78 others when it hit the north of the country on Saturday afternoon. The typhoon, described as one of the most powerful in the region over the past decade, caused significant damage. It landed in the coastal provinces of Quang Ninh and Haiphong with wind speeds reaching up to 149 kilometers per hour. Strong winds caused a tree to fall in Hanoi, resulting in the death of a woman. The typhoon also led to power outages in Quang Ninh and Thai Binh provinces. The government issued alerts and evacuated those at risk of floods or landslides. Several airports were closed as a safety precaution. Despite government efforts to reinforce trees in Hanoi, many were knocked down by the strong winds, along with billboards in northern cities. Local media reported that numerous moored boats were swept out to sea. Authorities urged citizens to stay indoors and keep safe.
