Former U.S. President Donald Trump was unharmed Sunday after shots were fired at his Florida golf course in what the Federal Bureau of Investigation called an attempted assassination. U.S. Secret Service officers shot at a gunman near the property line of Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, around 2:00 p.m. ET. Trump was playing golf at the time and was close to the gunman. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was in custody after the incident. Law enforcement officials found a rifle and other items near where the suspect was apprehended. The FBI is leading the investigation into the assassination attempt. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were briefed on the situation and will receive regular updates. Trump’s allies sent messages of support to him after the incident.
