The Try Guys, YouTube creators, announced they are on track to become profitable after a challenging period. Their ad-free service, 2nd Try, which is three months old, has seen a 20% increase in subscriptions, making up a significant portion of the company’s revenue. These numbers show that The Try Guys still rely on other revenue sources, mainly YouTube advertising. However, in an interview with CNBC, co-founder Zach Kornfeld expressed that the service is doing better than expected. Their goal is to keep expanding 2nd Try until it becomes their primary source of income.
Apart from their popular videos and series, The Try Guys are also known for a scandal involving one of the co-founders being caught in an affair with an employee. This scandal harmed the group’s relationship with advertisers. Kornfeld mentioned that their company operated at a loss for two years because the cost of producing shows exceeded the revenue from YouTube.
Another group of famous YouTubers started a new subscription service, Watcher Entertainment, earlier this year. This move received criticism from fans due to their plan to limit the number of episodes available for free on YouTube.
