In the Fogera district of the South Gondar zone in the Amhara region of Ethiopia, the local agriculture office expects a rice yield of over 1 million quintals for the 2016/17 production season. The head of the Fogera Woreda Agriculture Office reported an anticipated harvest of about 1,918,510 quintals from 34,822 hectares of rice fields. The Fogera district in the Amhara region of Ethiopia also sees abundant growth of both rice and maize.

The official highlighted that cluster 401 has 28,991 hectares dedicated to rice cultivation. Farmers widely use natural fertilizers to boost productivity. According to the Fogera Woreda government communication, schools, farmers’ training institutions, churches, and communal lands in 28 kebeles will contribute to increased production during the 2016/17 season.
