The health hardware maker announced on Wednesday that it acquired Veri, a Helsinki-based startup. Veri helps users stabilize blood sugar levels by providing insight and guidance on proper foods and habits.

According to Oura CEO Tom Hale, 97% of users are interested in understanding how nutrition affects their health. Some users have been using continuous glucose monitors before they became more widely available, possibly influenced by a competitor’s glucose monitoring patch.

Veri’s platform will be integrated into Oura’s offerings, but details on how are not clear. The Veri brand and platform will be phased out by the end of 2024. Oura plans to keep as many of Veri’s employees as possible.

Although incorporating continuous glucose monitoring into the Oura ring is an interesting idea, it is currently considered a pipedream by Hale. The company aims to use science to guide users on how glucose affects their health in the future.

Details of the deal between Oura and Veri have not been disclosed.
