The police caught a man who lied about having a bomb at the Iranian consulate in Paris on Friday morning.

At first, people thought there was a man in the Iranian consulate in Paris who said he would explode himself. A police source told Reuters that around 11 am, they saw the man go into the consulate with what looked like a grenade and a bomb vest.

The French police closed off the area quickly. The consulate is near the Eiffel Tower. Some people said the man put flags on the floor of the consulate and talked about wanting revenge for his brother’s death.

Around 2:45 pm, the police arrested the man without any problems. When they checked him, they found out he didn’t actually have any bombs.

It’s not clear if this incident is related to the tensions between Iran and Israel. The metro line nearby briefly stopped for safety reasons.
