Google is starting to use sound signals to predict early signs of disease. Google trained its foundation AI model with 300 million pieces of audio, including coughs, sniffles, and labored breathing, to identify someone battling tuberculosis. Now, Google has partnered with an Indian company – Salcit Technologies, a respiratory healthcare AI startup – to integrate this technology into smartphones. This can potentially help high-risk populations in areas with limited access to healthcare. Google’s venture arm has also supported a startup using AI to detect disease through smell.
