The Stanford professor Fei-Fei Li, known as the “Godmother of AI,” has secured $230 million for her new startup, World Labs, from investors like Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and Radical Ventures. World Labs is now worth over $1 billion, and the funding was raised in two rounds a few months apart, according to a report from TechCrunch in August.

Li’s company, aiming to launch its first product by 2025, is working on AI models that can understand and interact with the 3D world. World Labs is creating “large world models” for professionals such as artists, designers, developers, and engineers. Martin Casado, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, mentioned to Wired that World Labs’ clients could include game companies or movie studios.
