The Awash Kombolcha Hara market train project is set to restart. The Turkish construction firm Yapi Merkezi is returning to the project after a pause due to the northern conflict. Reports indicate that the Ethiopian government will compensate Yapi Merkezi for damages incurred during the war. A London court has ruled that the government must pay over half a billion dollars in restitution.

Recent discussions between Ethiopian officials and Yapi Merkezi representatives have led to plans to resume the Awash Kombolcha Hara market train project. Yapi Merkezi officials are expected to arrive in Addis Ababa next week to finalize an agreement with the government. This agreement will allow them to begin work, and sources suggest they will be on-site within a few months.
