Denmark’s prime minister warned that Europe needs to rely less on China for technology. She also emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes, such as depending too much on Russian oil and gas.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Mette Frederiksen urged Europeans to change their attitude towards the world, especially in peacetime. She highlighted the role of China in supporting Russia’s prolonged invasion of Ukraine.

Frederiksen stressed the need for Europe to invest more in its own technology and reduce dependency on Chinese goods. She suggested building a resilient supply chain with like-minded partners such as the US, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

At the Globsec security forum, leaders discussed the impact of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the need to take action against Russia’s shadow fleet. Denmark was one of the first countries to offer assistance to Ukraine, including transferring F-16 aircraft.

Frederiksen emphasized the urgency of supporting Ukraine without setting limits or red lines. She believed that imposing restrictions on donations or aid to Ukraine would be a mistake. The focus should be on providing the necessary support to Ukraine during this critical time.
