CNBC reported on Friday that Edgar Bronfman Jr. is willing to let Shari Redstone stay involved with Paramount Global if its special committee accepts his group’s offer for National Amusements, the controlling shareholder. Bronfman recently increased his bid to acquire Paramount by offering $6 billion for National Amusements and a minority stake in the company. This new offer from Bronfman poses a threat to a planned acquisition by David Ellison and his independent studio Skydance Media. If Paramount accepts an offer that Skydance does not match, they would need to pay a $400 million break-up fee. Paramount and its special board committee had no comments on the matter, while National Amusements and a spokesperson for Bronfman have not responded yet.
